‘It’ll do’ won’t do

You’re dashing between shops. You’ve got a meeting, or a date. The film starts in fifteen minutes. It still matters what’s in your cup.

We’re a specialty coffee shop on the first floor of the Allee shopping centre in Budapest. As well as coffee, we make fresh matcha and loose-leaf tea. There’s chai, house lemonade and cake too.

Recognise the place? It used to be Kaffeine Espresso Bar.

Why all the fuss?

Because a good coffee might just be essential to saving the world. Hungary’s 1848 revolution started in a coffee house, the Pilvax. Hardly a coincidence.

For now, we’re aiming a little lower: a better day for you. A well-made drink breaks the routine and gets you going when you’ve got a lot on. Sometimes that’s all it takes to carry on.

So what’s a Kaffeinist?

Someone who knows what they like and is curious about what makes a drink good. They won’t budge on the things that matter to them. You don’t need to be an expert. You just need to care about what you drink. Sound familiar? Then you’re a Kaffeinist too.

What we won’t budge on

Precision.

Good ingredients can still end up as a bad drink. With coffee, it’s the machine settings, the grind, the dose and how fresh the beans are. With matcha, it’s the amount of powder and the whisking; with tea, the water temperature and the brewing time.

Consistency.

We don’t leave any of this to individual habit. Whoever’s behind the counter, the same rules apply.

Paying attention.

In a hurry? We won’t hold you up. Curious? We’ll show you what sets one cup apart from another and help you choose.

You know what you like. We know how to make it.
